Vehicle Tracking Pros and Cons
Posted in category: Auto News at: November 30, 2011 by adminAs you probably know there are plenty of pros and cons to just about any product or service around. Anytime you are considering buying a product you have to consider what the pros and cons might be. You have to weigh whether these disadvantages will be outweighed enough by the advantages to make it truly a positive option for your company or self. To help you in this we are going to look at vehicle tracking devices. The entire article is focusing on vehicle tracking as a product and the benefits with a few cons mentioned.
You will have real time tracking abilities with your vehicles. You can pinpoint where any vehicle is at any time with the system. You never have to wonder where your employee is because the vehicle will show you their location. It helps you to have better relations with your client because you can give more accurate arrival times of your workers. Say you are called up by a client and they want to be able to know within the hour when your driver will be there. You can give them that approximation. It will depend on whether you want them to have a narrow window of an hour or less, but in general when the driver is on their way to that location at that time it is best to give a true approximation.
It is possible to reduce fuel costs with tracking. Vehicle tracking assures you that your drivers are not exploiting any of their jobs, which in turn causes a waste of fuel. Fuel is easily wasted by drivers who do not consider what can create waste. For instance they may consider leaving the vehicle on to be better for time management, yet when left on for an excessive amount of time it causes a waste of fuel. They may not consider speeding or excessive acceleration to be an issue, yet it is one of the bigger causes of wasteful fuel.
Other things can cause a waste of fuel such as taking a longer route than necessary or sitting in traffic idling. All of these factors can be helped by using vehicle tracking because the driver will be able to plan their routes better. Your management team will also be able to seek out the drivers with questionable behaviours for retraining or possible termination if the issues don’t cease.
